What is the Mega Million Choices Lottery?

  • Manitoba’s 2017 Mega Million Choices Lottery is designed to raise funds in support of the St. Boniface Hospital and Albrechtsen Research Centre initiatives, health research and patient care.

 

TICKETS:

How many tickets are being sold?

  • Only 61,200 Main lottery tickets will be offered for sale.
  • The number of 50/50 Plus™ tickets that can be sold is unlimited because there is no limit to the number a customer can purchase. The 50/50 Plus™ ticket total will be determined by the number sold by the lottery’s final cut-off date or early sell-out date.
  • Only 83,000 Big Score Plus™ tickets will be offered for sale.

 

How much are tickets?

2017 Mega Million Choices Lottery Main ticket prices are:

  • Single for $100
  • 2 tickets for $175
  • 4 tickets for $300
  • 8 tickets for $500

50/50 Plus™ ticket packages are:

  • Single ticket for $15
  • 6 tickets for $30
  • 20 tickets for $60

Big Score Plus™ ticket packages are:

  • Single ticket for $20
  • 4 tickets for $40
  • 8 tickets for $60

 

Can I buy a 50/50 Plus™ or Big Score Plus™ ticket by itself?

  • No, you must buy one of the 2017 Mega Million Choices Main ticket packages to be eligible to purchase a 50/50 Plus™ or Big Score Plus™ ticket.

 

Can I buy a 50/50 Plus™ or Big Score Plus™ ticket after I place my original order?

  • No, all 50/50 Plus™ or Big Score Plus™ tickets must be ordered at the same time you place your 2017 Mega Million Choices Main ticket order. 50/50 Plus™ or Big Score Plus™ ticket orders cannot be processed after your original 2017 Mega Million Choices ticket order has been finalized.

 

What is the minimum/maximum payout for the 50/50 Plus™ Draw?

  • The 50/50 PLUS™ can generate a maximum of $1,500,000 in gross revenue, the winner will receive 50% of gross revenue to a maximum of $750,000. The 50/50 PLUS™ minimum prize guarantee is $150,000.

 

What is the Big Score Plus™ and the Ultimate Big Score Plus™?

During the month of April, the Big Score Plus™ daily winner will choose from one of three prize options depending on which Draw they have won:

What Methods of Payment do you accept?

  • Visa, Visa Debit, MasterCard and MasterCard Debit are accepted at all ticket selling venues.
  • Mail in orders can be processed with Visa, Visa Debit, MasterCard, MasterCard Debit, Cheque or Money Order.
  • In person purchases can paid for with Cash, Debit, Visa, Visa Debit, MasterCard, MasterCard Debit, Cheque or Money Order.
  • All cheques must be payable to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation.

 

What happens if a bad payment is received (ie. NSF cheque, invalid credit card)?

  • A ticket is not considered purchased until a verified financial transaction is complete.
  • Ticket requests with cheques returned for insufficient funds (NSF) will be automatically voided.
  • The St. Boniface Hospital Foundation has the right to charge persons $30 to cover NSF administrative costs.

 

When will my ticket(s) arrive in the mail?

  • Customers will have the choice to receive their tickets via email or mail.
  • Customers who select regular mail, the official ticket will be mailed to the address provided when ordering. Please allow 3-4 weeks for your ticket(s) to arrive.
  • Customers who select eTicket when ordering online or by phone will receive an email to the email address provided within 5 business days.
  • Customers who select eTicket when ordering in person or by mail will receive their eTicket within 10 business days.

 

How old do I have to be to buy a ticket?

  • You must be 18 years of age or older at time of purchase.

 

Can tickets be purchased in the name of my minor aged children or grandchildren?

  • No, tickets cannot be purchased in the name of a minor.

 

Can non-Manitoba residents buy tickets?

  • Yes, if you are a non-resident visiting our province you can buy a ticket in person at one of our designated outlets. All sales must take place within Manitoba.

 

Is my ticket purchase tax deductible?

  • No, hospital lottery tickets are not tax deductible.

 

Can I choose a specific ticket number?

  • No, ticket numbers are consecutive and computer-generated.

 

How many names can I put on my ticket?

  • One name only. Tickets are issued in the buyer’s name only and prizes will only be awarded to the buyer. It is the responsibility of the ticket buyer to ensure the mailing address on their ticket order form is correct. The buyer is responsible for distributing any prizes in the event of a group purchase winning.

 

What happens if I lose my ticket(s)?

  • You do not need your ticket(s) to claim your prize. Your name, address and phone number is recorded in the database along with your ticket(s) number. All winners receive a prize notification letter in the mail.

  • Cut-off date for ticket sales is Midnight, Thursday, March 23, 2017.
    All of the Big Score Plus draws (with the exception of the Ultimate Big Score Plus™ draw) will take place on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation office, C1026-409 Taché Ave, Winnipeg, MB. There will be 25 Daily Big Score Plus™ winners and eight Friday Big Score winners for the first 29 days of April 2017. Winners names will be posted daily on the 2017 Mega Million Choices website www.megamillionchoices.ca

Ultimate Big Score Plus™

  • Cut-off date for ticket sales is Midnight Thursday March 23, 2017.
    The Ultimate Big Score Plus™ Draw will take place on Friday April 28, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation office, C1026-409 Taché Ave, Winnipeg, MB.

 

What if the 2017 Mega Million Choices Lottery sells out early? Will that change the draw dates?

Yes. If the 2017 Mega Million Choices Lottery sells out prior to Midnight, Friday March 10, 2017, the following alternative draw dates will apply:

The VIP Bonus and Ultimate Bonus draw dates will remain the same

Early Bird Draw: Tuesday March 21, 2017, between 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Main Draws: Begin Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 pm continuing on Wednesday March 22. 2017, at 9:00 a.m. until completed.

Grand Prize: Thursday March 23, 2017 between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the St. Boniface Hospital Everett Atrium located at 409 Taché Ave., Winnipeg, MB.

 

Can my ticket numbers win more than one prize?

  • Yes! Each ticket is eligible to win one prize in each prize category. After each prize category draw is completed, all the winners are recorded and their tickets go back in the drum for the next prize category draw.

 

Does the Mega Million Choices Lottery offer cash equivalents on all its prizes?

  • Yes, there will be cash options for all prize draws. See our rules and regulations for more information.

 

Can I see all of the homes that are in the Lottery?

  • The show homes will be available for viewing, please visit our website for dates and times.

 

How is the draw controlled?

  • Draws are conducted in accordance with Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries regulations.

 

How will I know if I’ve won? How do I claim my prize?

  • All prize winners will be notified by mail as to what they have won and where/how to claim their prize(s).
  • Cash prizes will be mailed in cheque format to the mailing address on the winner’s ticket.
  • All winners will be required to present their prize notification letter along with a piece of Government issued picture identification when picking up prizes.
  • A full list of winning ticket numbers will be posted on the Mega Million Choices Lottery website: www.stbmegamillionchoices.ca shortly after all draws have been completed. Also, winners list will be published in the Winnipeg Free Press on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 and in case of a sell out before midnight on March 10, 2017, will be published in the Free Press on Tuesday, April 11, 2017.

 

How long do I have to claim my prize?

  • Prizes must be claimed within 3 months.
  • Winners of the Gift card or Cash option prizes Draws 12-3211 will have up to 60 days from the draw date to make their selection. If notification has not been given to the Foundation by then a cheque will be mailed out to the winner for the cash option value.
  • All unclaimed prizes become property of the Foundation after a period of three months.
  • Lottery Customer Relations will follow-up with one phone call or email after the initial prize notification letter has been sent out in an effort to try and contact those who have not claimed their prizes after 2 months.
  • Winning ticket holders can request to donate their prize to the Foundation in exchange for a tax receipt equal to advertised retail value of the prize.

 

What happens if I can’t pick up my prize in person?

  • Cash prizes will be mailed in cheque format. It is the responsibility of the purchaser to ensure the mailing address on their ticket is correct.
  • If requested, prizes will be mailed out to out of town residents.
  • If someone other than the winner is claiming a non-cash prize on the winner’s behalf, the winner must provide written and signed authorization along with the original prize winning letter and a copy of his/her picture identification.
  • Further details on how to claim your prizes will be included in the notification letter winners receive.

 

Do I have to pay tax on my prize winnings?

  • Lottery winnings are considered a windfall and not taxable in Canada.

 

Who is not allowed to buy a ticket?

  • Members of the Board of Directors and employees of the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation, employees’ household members, and members of licensed gaming suppliers providing services to this program are prohibited from purchasing tickets in the 2017 Mega Million Choices Lottery.

 

What is done with the 2017 Mega Million Choices Lottery proceeds?

  • Proceeds from the 2017 Mega Million Choices Lottery are used by the St. Boniface Hospital to provide quality health care and facilitate world-class health research and patient care at the St. Boniface Hospital and Albrechtsen Research Centre.

 

Why are you giving away millions of dollars in prizes in a lottery?

  • The 2017 Mega Million Choices Lottery provides the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation with a much needed revenue stream that allows us to fund patient care programs and research activities. The lottery is self-supporting. Ticket sales generate enough revenue to not only cover the entire cost of running the lottery (i.e. prizes, etc.,) but they also provide additional revenues that are then directed to meet the needs the needs of the St. Boniface Hospital.

 

What is your privacy policy?

  • All private information collected during the course of running this lottery is governed by the privacy policies of the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation and the Province of Manitoba.
  • We do not rent, sell or trade their mailing lists to anyone.

 

If I am on your mailing list what can I expect to receive?

  • Mailings would include the following:
